Gidday
In the forum that I had before, I started a save our Flag thread. I laid down challenges to those who are threaterning our Flag, and made my displeasure know at those who are doing it and stated that I believe that such an attack on our Flag was treason.
Shortly after I posted that, the forum was hacked into and posts changed and the entire thread on the flag wiped. This happened more than once too.
It has taken me a while to try to get aother one up and running that would be more secure, so I hope this is not going to suffer the same fate.
When discussing this and asking for advice from Chips, an Aussie, he mentioned that there is also an attack being made on their flag too. It was from that discussion that the idea came to me to get this bulletin board, and to make it an ANZAC Community Board, because, despite the fact that we like getting at each other and beating the other at sports, when the chips are down we will stand shoulder to shoulder and fight together.
So, I don't care if you are a member of the R.S.A. or the R.S.L. or just a friend or supporter of them, you are welcome here. Let this be a place where you can come and get serious about the things that really matter, like the fifth column working to destroy our flag, or share a bit of humour and throw a bit of crap at each other, come on in and have a say.

Jack I think it is about time the NZ flag was changed, it is time to move on mate, I know that NZ has an incestual tie...or is that ancestral I can never remember ...anyway they have a tie to England, but times have changed it is time to move a head , goodness the NZ flag resembles the Australian flag that even the Pommes are questioning it. Now my parents emigrated here just before the war from Germany , they found it very hard for obvious reasons , and harder because they felt loyal to two countries, although they could not say so at the time. I have a right to speak in here cause I have served in the NZ army for many years and mate you have seriously got to move on. The world has changed, no we should not forget the war and I will never, but mate your obsession with saving the flag , well it is so out date the Silver fern would look so much better and I think you will find a lot of people of the same opinion. We need our own identity ...lets move go for it..

Have you noticed that its always the foreign immigrants who want to change the flag .. and that's just the thin edge of the wedge mark my words. If you don't like the culture of your adopted country then don't come, simple as that. A fern on a black background would look more like the Jolly Roger than a proper national flag. NZ would be a laughing stock, like a bunch of pirates. Better to have a swastika if NZ is full of germans. Leave well alone says I... A haaagh!

aw come on Wombat , I was born and bred in NZ which makes me a Kiwi through and through, and swastika is not something I would like to see on the flag.I would like to see the Silver fern cause that represents us as a nation and it is usually imprinted on the faces of those we have kicked arse in sport...and I am not sure what you mean about the jolly rodgering .... hehe ..also we are our own nation made up of a diverse group of people just like Aussy so we need our own identity. However for the good of the country I also don't have a problem with NZ becoming a state of Australia , I think it would kick our economy along..worth a thought. Although NZ has a state in Australia it's called Bondi I think..haha

Mhunt, you say the world has changed. So what. Where is the change for the better, it has all been change for change sake.
The New Zealand flag and the Australian flag are not the same or even nearly. One has red stars and the other white. And did you ever learn to count? It seems not. Just get a bunch of flags from around the world and you will see many that look a bloody side more alike than the two that represent the A.N.Z.A.C's.
It looks like you just have a bit more loyalty for your parent's country than your own.
And because some stupid young bumms want to put paint over their faces dosen't mean that what they put on should be our flag.
Take a good look at our flag.
The Union Jack represents where our founding government came from. The blue backgound represents the vast ocean that we are in, and the stars represent the Southern Cross from which you can always get a bearing on where we are.
And thanks Wombat, when those jokers were racing in those boats for that cup, they called themselves Team New Zealand but flew a black flag with a white motive on it which from a distance looked like the Jolly Roger, a pirates' flag. What was worse was they sang a song like an anthem which was no more than a broken down pop song. I ask you, how could that possibly represent our country.
I am sorry Mhunt, but nobody has yet shown me any good realson to change either our flag or our Anthem.

Surely your"founding govrnment"found you lot too undesirable to stay in our country thus shipped your ancestors to the other side of the world for their own safety. Why you would want to be reminded that your mother country evicted you is beyond me.Move on get your own identity and stop living in the past is my advice. As for the German ancestory i can somewhat sympathize at feeling an outcast,i was victimised for being openly gay while serving in HM forces and was eventualy hounded out,the stigma never left even though i tried to live the "straight" life even getting married and having a son, alas it never worked out.Do you have any idea how much it hurts when your only son refuses to see you and calls you a puff.

New Zealand was settled by people looking for a better life sure, but we were not evicted like you say.
Our two countries have always been the best of friends, that is why we were the first to join into both World Wars, we came in to help protect our mother country.

"that is why we were the first to join into both World Wars"
I'm not sure about WW1 but I know for a fact that we joined in WW2 long before you did.

Deroced, if you check it out I am sure you will find that is was only a matter of hours before New Zealand declaired war on Germany. The famous speach of our P.M. in which he said "Where Brittain goes we go. Where Brittain stands we stand."
In fact, if I remember right we actually declaired war the day before the British, because of the fact we a 12 hours ahead of GMT.

Jack you can not turn this into a who was in the war first, this is about the flag and nothing more, the Anzacs were a wonderful fighting force, they should not be bought into the flag arguement , the Anzacs fought so we could grow as a country so we could move on and expand our horizons , they didn't fight so that we all sit back and keep everything the same, there is an old saying from my parents country, it means. to heal and move on and look to the future for promise and sincerity...
an heilen und bewegen und zur Zukunft nach Versprechung und Aufrichtigkeit schauen.
I Vote we change the flag !!

Bloody hell man, what do you think the ANZACs were fighting for. They were prepared to die for the flag and all it represented, and that has not changed.

I would hope they were fighting for the same thing I did. My country and lately, it seems, politicians delusions of grandure not some scrap of material.

Jack fighting for the flag was a term , meaning fighting for our country, as is when you salute an officer you are saluting the Queen (for now anyway , and don't get me started on that one)...you have a misguided belief that the ol Diggers would be sad if we changed the flag , FFS that's what they fought for was for us to be an independant nation, and we have always been up there with the rest of the world and that is not only thanks to the ANZACS but also to us the people who have imput into this lovely country , the people of today, those who without whom this country would not be ...yes we thank the ANZACS for saving it , but it is time we thanked the rest of us for keeping it going.!!! Change the flag !!!!!
